Barclays Coin Storage

Bespoke Coin Storage Units for Barclays Bank (Via Atkins)

Atkins contacted Cubic with an operationally vital requirement to provide a temporary "bulk coin" storage solution to a large number of Barclays branches, whilst they simultaneously undertook a national bullion lift replacement programme.

Cubic designed a cost effective, task specific, dual locking steel cupboard with adjustable, reinforced shelves. The coin unit was designed to sit on top of a special steel plinth to avoid branch staff bending or stretching to access the shelves. Naturally, stability was a crucial factor in the design, so floor and wall fixing brackets were incorporated into the plinth and main coin unit to enable non-uniform changes in load to be easily accommodated.

As part of the overall programme Cubic undertake a detailed site survey of the branch to assess the most suitable location for each unit, balancing factors such as security, visibility and ease of access for staff. Once assessed, Cubic provide a CAD drawing for approval by Barclays security.
