HM Prison - Moveable Wall
A high profile trial and remand prison in South London required an improved space management flexibility within their learning and skills block.
To maximise the best use of available class room and training space, CUBIC proposed products from our extensive range of moveable walls and sliding partitions. Each wall needed to be easily operable as well as addressing specific operational and security requirements.
This proposal enabled the corresponding areas of each classroom to become multifunctional and to used for both group and individual activities.

Specific Project Requirements
- The partitions were designed to leave a gap at one side for clear and unrestricted access by staff to comply with their operational requirements
- The continuously hinged panels were top hung. but included an integrated floor guide track for additional security
- Alternate modules were part glazed with toughened glass panels to allow clear vision though the moveable wall when extended
- The installation had to remain tactile and functional, yet able to withstand the possibility of forceful or successive collision
Installation Management
- Due to the requirement to install the products in a high security area, detailed site specific RISK & METHOD plans were discussed with the client in order to reduce and eliminate potential hazards
- Particular attention was paid to the smooth operation of deliveries and the careful management of tools and equipment inventories
- All fixings were constantly checked and positioned to minimise the possibility of tampering.
- The classrooms were out of action for just one working day each, affording a quick and clean installation under the restrictive conditions
