Lloyds TSB National Co-Location Project
Following the merger of the Lloyds and TSB banking brands in 1995 a rolling co-location programme was instigated to avoid unnecessary duplication of branches in high streets all over the UK. Once commercial decisions had been reached concerning branch viability, CUBIC were asked to provide the expertise to assess if the guest branch could be made to integrate into the host branch.
Often this would involve seemingly impossible scenario's of trying to fit a "quart into a pint pot." However, drawing on our space management expertise and broad product range we were frequently able to get more storage into less space by utilizing roller racking, rotary storage and office systems units. Typically Cubic would make alterations to both specialized ares of the host branch (e.g. Strongroom) as well as more obvious places, such as admin areas and store rooms. Often we were able to inject real value into projects by reusing and reconfiguring existing storage equipment and office furniture.
Part of our remit was also to carry out the Moves and Changes work for each co-location project, ensuring that after all building work had taken place, the staff and storage requirements of the guest branch would neatly dovetail into their new home. Crucially, the final moves always took place on the 'live weekend' to ensure the most favourable trading circumstances for the clients customers. This meant that every move date had to be met every time!
